Coming back from my business trip to Cincinnati has been a whirlwind. So much has happened in the last few days that it feels as though it’s been a whole week since I landed back in Hartford instead of just 3 days. I will upload some photos I took in Cincinnati (which is a really beautiful city) in another post – promise!
My husband and I had dinner at our favorite bar on Friday night after getting some great news. Our favorite waitress sat down with us a for a bit and told us they were having a beach party at the bar the next day and they were having kegs and prizes – including a guitar signed by Kenny Chesney. Now, I’m not much of a country fan but my bff is totally in love with Kenny so we thought we’d try to win the guitar for her. Plus we had a suspicion that she would get engaged the next night so it would be perfect!
We went back to the bar the next day for the beach party with our friends Andrew, John and Wendy. Our waitress kept giving us raffle tickets so we just kept filling them out. I made sure my cell phone was all charged up and sitting beside me at dinner because I thought I’d be getting an important call from the bff. Sure enough, at 8pm my phone was buzzing and hubs noticed it so he nudged me. I ran outside so I could hear. Sure enough – she was engaged! YAY!
An hour later they started gearing up for the guitar giveaway. Everyone at my table patiently awaited the news. A waitress got up with a bucket with the tickets in it and our waitress picked the name. It was JOHN! Our John – sitting right across from me! It was so funny!
Seconds after sitting back down at the table with the signed guitar, case and stand, a woman came up and offered him $200 cash for it right then and there. Sorry lady.
We took the guitar back to our apartment and John played it a bit. Wendy and I couldn’t resist taking photos with the guitar. I left a message for my bff saying that John won but sorry I didn’t win so I could give it to her!
I think she ended up with the best prize this weekend anyway.
