The closing on our house got pushed back 11 days from when we originally thought we’d be closing. Our realtor and our mortgage broker were pushing for our closing to be on 7/11; however, there was some miscommunication because we found out the sellers were closing on a house up in Maine as well. That closing wasn’t until 7/24 and they didn’t want to be homeless (and rightly so) so our closing is now on 7/22.

This of course pushed back our schedule of painting, carpeting, moving, and turning over the apartment. Add in the fact that 7/22 is a Tuesday so the people we had lined up to paint work during the week.  It was a bit upsetting at first but rationally it’s going to be ok. Maybe I’m being super optimistic (since when?!) but I think we’ll be able to get everything done.

To that end, our local home improvement store had a great sale going on, $5 rebate for each gallon of paint plus no payments/no interest for a year. The only problem was that the promotion was to end yesterday (7/7). So in order not to pass up this oportunity, we spent Sunday afternoon buying our paint.

All 13 gallons (plus 10 gallons of primer).

Yeah, it’s all sitting in our apartment. The seller’s of the house smoke in it (mostly the basement but it causes the whole house to stink) so we knew we’d have to paint every room. But it’s fun to pick out colors since we’ve lived in our apartment for nearly 4 years and never had the opportunity to choose our colors.

So, I thought I’d share our colors. Fun, no?

I could only find swatches of the Valspar paint and not the Martha Stewart paints we chose (I’m such a hypocrite, I really can’t stand Martha but here I am buying up her paint!).

If you click here you can check out the Martha paints.

Boardwalk = a beigy color we are doing most of the house in (we are purchasing a cape and the 1st floor is an open floor plan so it’s hard to have rooms different colors without it looking funny….

Cranberry Bog = a cranberry color (duh) we are doing an accent wall in the dining room. We just decided to do this today to break up the beige. Hubilicious came up with the color and I think it will come out awesome!

Vintage Map = a pale blue that we are painting our upstairs full bath. I’d like to do white accents for a calming, spa-like feel

Anjou Pear = a sage green for our master bedroom.

Warm Summer = downstairs full-bath. We have a thing for having a rubber ducky bathroom so I think this is the perfect sunshiney color.

Schoolboy Blue = Our office (3rd bedroom) will be mostly this color with an accent wall of….

Roadhouse Tavern = I’ve always wanted a blue/chocolate room :)

So, we have our work cut out for us. But it will be so worth it to have a home of our own and finally get some style. No more dorm-like living!
