Most of last week was spent in the DC area for training of the new protocol I’m working on. As with any of these trainings, they are hectic, and you walk away with more questions than answers. So I’m a little frustrated but I work with a wonderful team so I have no doubt we will do well. That’s what I keep saying to myself!
This was my third business trip to the area and yet I haven’t been in DC since 1998. So, I was really determined to see the sites and fortunately I had a couple of awesome coworkers who wanted to as well. DC is really one of my top cities – I have always felt so welcome there and people have always been so nice there. That’s just been my brief experience. And it is really easy to navigate around on the metro. We went in to DC and only spent the $4 bucks on the metro fare and just walked and walked. Yeah, I had blisters after but I didn’t care!
We went after our training ended and the sun was starting to set so it was really the best lighting a photographer could ask for. I kept saying that to my coworkers over and over in between snaps of my shutter. The whole experience was unbelievable. The sky was getting orange, the weather was perfect – breezy yet warm, and I was in good company. When we were at the Washington Monument (which I was able to touch. I had never gotten that close before!) a family with a small baby started flying a kite. People were playing kickball. We were enjoying ourselves. It was great.
So I’ll stop gushing and give you some thumbnails of photos I took with my tiny P&S. If you click on them, it will give you a higher res photo.
