Yesterday was my first day back to work after a mini-vacation. Coming back from a vacation is always difficult but yesterday? Was tenfold. Really, I couldn’t catch a break.
This week was the start of my crazy working nearly 10 hours each day and 4 hours on Friday week which will go from now until possibly June. However; I knew yesterday wouldn’t be the officical start and things were just up in the air so I decided to try to make it in a little early to square things away and go through my ginormous in-box. Plus, my state got hit with some rain overnight which made the roads icy.
I go out to my car to start it with the idea of coming back inside while it de-ices so I could finish getting ready. When I hit the button to unlock my car, I notice that nothing happens. My first thought is that It was so icy my car refused to unlock. I tried again. No dice. Ok, so it’s still early in the morning so I shake that whole too icy to unlock idea from my head and unlock it manually. Then I look to the little stick to the left of my steering wheel and see that I was a complete idiot when I ran to CVS Sunday afternoon (having awesome sales on L’oreal Hip products and Garnier Fructice btw!) and LEFT MY LIGHTS ON! I haven’t done that since I bought the car and left them on by accident and drained the battery completely. The last thing I usually do when turning off my car is click off the lights. Plus, the buzzard that goes off when I leave my lights on is hit or miss. Must get that fixed.
Hubby left for work nearly two hours before so I was stranded. Plus it was icy out. Greeeaaat!
I called my next door neighbor who was home alone with her kids. She was a little nervous about jumping cars so she gave me the number to the retired neighbor across the street. So I called him and explained my situation and he said, “You need a jump. I’ll be right over.” YAY! I love my neighbors.
So he slid his way to my driveway. We were able to get my car started in no time. I thanked him profusely and I will be baking him cookies this week as a thank you.
After letting my car heat up a bit I jump in and start making my way to work. I get five minutes away and realize I left my purse on the dining room table. UGH! So I turn around.
Once at work all hell breaks loose and I was just frustrated. Then I saw someone familiar at the clinic which is always awkward and I never know how to react to that.
Seriously, yesterday was a day I should have just stayed in bed!
